Blended Intensive Programm

International (P.E.)-teacher exchange programme at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg

In summer 2023, our first international exchange took place as part of a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in Magdeburg. We were visited by prospective P.E. teachers from Poland, Spain and Belgium.

These three topics were focussed in our Summer-School in June 2023:

Comparison of school curricula in the countries
Comparison of school health in different countries (health programmes and projects)
Use of digital devices in physical education

In addition of working on these topics, the international group visited schools in Magdeburg. The supporting programme was organised by the German students and we went to see sporting events, cultural and art events and, of course, the student pubs of Magdeburg.

All of the students reported a great added value of this event. The exchange provided a good insight into the different school systems and the different ways in which teacher training is implemented in some cases. Such an exchange between countries broadens the horizon and the spectrum of knowledge and understanding of being a teacher for all students.

Based on this positive experience we would like to intensify the exchange and planned future exchanges until 2027. In 2024, we are once again looking forward to the visit of student teachers in Magdeburg (18-22-3.2024). This time future Physical Education teachers from Finland (Jyväskylä), Spain (Barcelona) and Poland (Poznań) will be visiting us.

Our work topics in 2024 will be the following three areas:

The sustainable development of physical education
The development of PETE programmes
Information and communications technology (ICT) and its use in Physical Education

We are very excited to see what can be developed again in this exchange.

2026 Jyväskylä
2027 Poznań
